April 2, 2024 | Monthly Meeting | Deborah Schain, Occupational Therapist

Retired occupational therapist, Deborah Schain came in and spoke to us about staying active as we age and the importance of staying connected to the community for our physical and mental well-being. She covered various topics, “FAST” signs of stroke, signs of heart attack, keeping your home a safe place, removing hazards and knowing when to call 9-1-1. If unsure, CALL! She demonstrated balance exercises we can all be doing daily along with practices for good posture. Keep moving. WALK!! Alot of the information she gave us was to help PREVENT FALLS!! Unfortunately, the greatest reason people seek out OT’s is because they have taken a fall. Deborah provided great information to us in a fun and entertaining way. Thank you, Deborah Schain.
