#2 Around Every Corner | 24 Beach Road, Orleans
Inspired by Swedish and English cottage gardens where plants and shrubs are planted close to each other. giving it a relaxed, overgrown, romantic cottage look. The owners of this garden have spent 30 years designing, building, and maintaining the garden. Each area of the garden has its distinct purpose. An outdoor shower is hidden by climbing hydrangeas. A sauna with beds of Hostas and a hot tub is tucked amid flowers. Two raised stone kitchen gardens were built by the front door for easy access to greens, flowers, and a few herbs. There is a chicken coop with a run for the chickens to free range. There is also a free-form wildflower meadow. Enclosed vegetable beds with a sitting area and raised beds for growing flowers are outlined with blooming shrubs. Another section hosts currants, gooseberry, blueberries, elderberries and a young Quince tree. The compost area is used to grow pumpkins and serves as a nursery where seedlings and young plants are started before they are moved into the perennial beds. An asparagus bed was recently added. Next to the potting shed is a pergola with gourds and climbing wisteria covering the root cellar. At the front of the property, terraced stonework beds were designed and planted with evergreens, blooming shrubs, annuals and perennials. We will be selling crafts at this location.
